Abstract:
The present article provides a contextualization of an associative movement, (the Extremeño), whose goal is the so-called "recovery of the historic memory". This association tries to contribute to the construction of an alternative memory, that of the defeated, in opposition to the one propagated by the Francoist dictatorship. This article will focus both on the need of preserving a "place for memory", like the Concentration Camp of Castuera, and on the work of the Memorial Concentration Camp of Castuera Association (AMECADEC), to achieve that aim.
