Cambio en las políticas públicas de la memoria en Cataluña: el pasado como problema

Abstract:
This paper briefly analyses change in politics of memory on Spanish Civil War and Franco's dictatorship delivered by the Generalitat de Catalunya (the Catalan autonomous government). It does so from a political science's perspective studying how remembering the past has been constructed in terms of a "problem" in public debate and in the government's agenda. Specifically, in these pages, I work on implicit "causal stories" of politics of memory discourses and propose that there has been an important change. If in the transition times the emphasis was on democratic stability and reconciliation (both in Catalonia and in Spain), nowadays, it is on democracy's quality and reparations.
