Dualidad de las funciones de costo y de procucción en sus formas homotetica y no homotetica con aplicación de transformadas de lagrange

Ph.D Giovanni E. Reyes

Contribuciones a la Economía, 2007, issue 2007-03

Abstract: This paper studies the cost and production functions, not only by themselves, but more important, in terms of their mutual transformation, under conditions in which their calculations and determination of trends could be difficult or complicated. This is a topic related to the theory of production which is beyond the usual exposition in terms of cost and production functions in separated perspectives. This issue belongs to the core aspects of the managerial concepts of any firm. Here I use the homothetic and no homothetic approach to both type of functions, finishing the article with applications derived from the Lagrange method to maximize results from specific factors, taking into account restrictions of those factors, such as budget limits.

Keywords: microeconomics; theory of cost; theory of production; cost function; production function; homothetic forms; no homothetic forms; and Lagrange transformations. (search for similar items in EconPapers)
