Abstract:
The present work is led to study the performance of the Direct Foreign Investment in Argentina during the empire of the Plan of Convertibility, like a consistent set of structural reforms, in the Latin American historic context. We analyze the main characteristics of the Plan, their intrinsic vulnerability and the rigidity that imposed to the Argentinean economy, returning it highly dependent of the rate of entrance of capitals, between which we find the Direct Foreign Investment. Finally we show how the process of financial opening and the ambivalent behaviour of the Direct Foreign Investment ended make no sustainable anymore the Plan, unless it was sustained with debt
