Abstract:
The economists, have tried to measure the degree of satisfaction, performance, well-being and development of a society in order to obtain some kind of standard evaluation of the countries, which in certain form would allow to know the outcome of the application of some economic development models. It is the purpose of this work to present the Indice de Desempeño Macroeconómico (IDM), which can be applied in such a dynamic and universal form to the countries, and studies its relation with the growth of the per capita Gross Domestic Product. Applying the IDM to the macroeconomic numbers of a country its level of economic development will be deduced, which is compared with the qualitative characteristics of the progress of the country, thus allowing to evaluate of universal way the economies of the world. The results demonstrate that groups of countries with similar economic models exist, political economic and equal variability in their performance and are of similar per capita income. Also one demonstrates that a close relationship and directly proportional between the rate of growth of the per capita GDP and the IDM.
