QUÉ ES UNA TEORIA: CÓMO SE DESARROLLA EN EL ENFOQUE CUANTITATIVO Y EN EL ENFOQUE CUALITATIVO DE INVESTIGACIÓN

Said Diez Farhat

Revista Caribeña de Ciencias Sociales, 2016, issue 2016_01

Abstract: This article aims to analyze more deeply what a "theory" is and explains how quantitative and qualitative research approaches are developed. Explanations of various authors of what is a "theory" are described, who express that quantitative research is associated with the deductive method and that qualitative research is linked to the inductive method. This work concludes that the existing progress in the epistemological level agrees with the idea that the use of either one method of scientific research or the other one (quantitative or qualitative) is in the hands of researchers and they want to give more importance (generation of theory or processing of reality), besides the item that you choose to begin the research process.
