Concurrentiestrategie en industriële organisatie

Review of Business and Economic Literature, 2005, vol. L, issue 5, 787-804
Abstract:
Industrial organization (IO) has an important role to play in inspiring the competition policies of the government. At the same time it can be used to clarify the economics of the competitive strategies of business. This second focus is illustrated by a brief discussion of some striking tendencies and insights, concerning the credibility of strategies, consequences of asymmetric information and surprising results such as disadvantageous mergers and price discrimination, and cooperation that reduces prices. The spillovers between strategy analysis and IO are still limited, possibly because of the high degree of rationality of economic analysis and the lack of robustness of insights.
