Abstract:
This study describes the synthesis of a series thiosemicarbazone ligands i.e. 4-Nitroacetophenone thiosemicarbazone (4NAT), 4-Hydroxyacetophenone thiosemicarbazones (4HAT), 3-Nitrobenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (3NBT) by conventional heating method as well as microwave irradiations method. The synthesized thiosemicarbazone ligands have been characterised by elemental analysis, melting point determination, FTIR, UV-visible spectral analysis. The synthesized ligands have been screened in vitro for antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Bascillus subtilis bacteria. The result shows that all the thiosemicarbazone ligands are potent antibacterial agents against these bacteria.
