Blockchain Based Data Trusts for Cross Border Pilgrim Mobility and Sustainability Analytics

Abstract:
A radical shift is clearly apparent in global religious tourism due to the digitization effects and the imperative of sustainability and increased needs of secure, ethical, and efficient pilgrim mobility across borders. The movement of pilgrims internationally as mass events like the Hajj, Umrah and Arba’een, and others increasingly attract millions of people introduce complicated problems in terms of data interoperability, environmental responsibility, health surveillance and credibility. To manage these issues, the data trusts suggested in this paper suggest the use of a blockchain-based solution utilizing data trusts, which are decentralized, transparent, and ethically underpin. The paper analyzes an anecdotal examination of technological, religious, and sustainability models to develop a multi-dimensional approach to sustainable pilgrimage by incorporating the Islamic principles, smart mobility technologies, and digital governance. The synthesis of results of sectors, including; halal tourism, smart cities, digital identity, and fintech show how blockchain solutions can be used to build upon trust, traceability and environmental responsibility, as well as make results accreditable to the objectives of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This article proposes a conceptual framework of Pilgrim Mobility Data Trusts (PMDTs) with cross-border coordination, ethical surveillance, and analytical ecology as a focus priority using insights of real-world cases and a system level modeling to present the conceptual framework. Offering strategic policy advice to governments, OIC institutions, tourism boards and technology developers, the paper presents an inclusive, secure and sustainable global faith-based mobility of the future.
