Terrain Analysis- A Case Study of Hirasan Basin

Abstract:
In the present paper, an attempt has been made to classify the terrain of Hirasan basin. The Hirasan Nala (Stream) in one of the tributary of Panzara River, flows from south west to north east and merges to the Panzara river along south bank. From the point of view of physiography the study area can be divided in to three parts i.e. Hilly terrain, pediments and alluvium tracts. As far as total study area is concerned near about half of the area is occupied by pediments and rest of by the hilly terrain and alluvium tract. However, alluvium tract occupies relatively small portion and accounts for about 17% of the total basin area. As a result, the alluvium tract remains too small for the cultivation of agriculture to sustain the population in this area.
