Abstract:
Urban air pollution caused by vehicular emissions, particularly nitrogen oxides (NOx), is a major environmental issue in modern cities. Photocatalytic construction materials incorporating titanium dioxide (TiO₂) have emerged as promising solutions for passive air purification in urban infrastructure. When exposed to ultraviolet or solar radiation, TiO₂ initiates photocatalytic reactions that oxidize harmful pollutants such as NO and NO₂ into harmless nitrate compounds that can be washed away by rainwater.
