International Journal of Scientific Research in Science and Technology, 2026, vol. 13, issue 3, 507-509

Abstract: Marine and freshwater algae are considered rich sources of bioactive compounds with significant medicinal and industrial applications. Hence in the present study preliminary screening was conducted to know the presence of secondary metabolites in blue green alga Oscillatoria willei including phenols flavonoids, alkaloids, glycosides, steroids, saponins, and terpenoids. Extract was prepared from alga Oscillatoria willei and preliminary screening was carried out for the analysis of presence or absence of secondary metabolites. The Oscillatoria willei revealed the presence of various secondary metabolites such as phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids and steroids. However alga showed the absence of glycosides and saponins.
