A Cloud-Enabled Internet of Thing (IoT) Framework for Precision Agriculture and Intelligent Irrigation Automation

Abstract: With the rising need for food production and the limited water resources and volatile climate, there is a need for smart and sustainable agriculture techniques. This paper provides a Cloud-Enabled Internet of Things (IoT) Framework for Precision Agriculture and Intelligent Irrigation Automation to improve agricultural output, improve resource efficiency and assist data-driven decision making. The proposed framework includes IoT-enabled sensors, wireless communication techniques, cloud computing platforms and sophisticated analytics to continually monitor vital agriculture parameters such as soil moisture, temperature, humidity, light intensity and weather conditions. Real-time data from dispersed sensor nodes are sent to a cloud infrastructure for storage, processing, and analysis. The technology automatically manages irrigation operations, based on thresholds and prediction models, to ensure crops get the proper quantity of water at the right time. It uses sensors, weather information and automated systems constantly to ensure that the proper quantity of water is applied at the right time, making it more efficient and saving resources. The rise in water demands against the rise in population growth involves the management of water sources and reducing use. Such a system may be quite accurate but has to be informed about the soil and the weather of the location where it is to be utilized. this article presents a smart irrigation system based on Internet of things and cloud-based architecture. The system is developed to assess soil moisture and humidity and analyse the data in the cloud via a wide range of machine learning algorithms. Farmers are provided right information about water content requirements. If they employ smart irrigation, farming may use less water.
