O império contra-ataca: notas sobre os fundamentos da atual dominação norte-americana

Abstract:
The main characteristic of the international situation today is the difference in power that differs the United States from the rest of the world. This essay has the purpose to discuss the reasons for this North-American lead. The theory being defended here is that this situation has its origin in two facts: the first being the lost of the monetary role by gold and the adoption of a flexible exchange policy, following the monetary crisis in the beginning of the seventies. The second fact was the new direction that the US?s monetary policy took after 1979. The combination of these two events allowed the United States to be free from any outside restrictions on conducting their economy as well as on leading the international economy by the monopolist power of emitting international money without references on any real merchandise.
