Function of Symbols in the Setting of the Novel "The Silent Angel" by Heinrich Boll

Abstract: The story atmosphere includes the setting, scene components, and all the descriptions the author uses to further advance the plot, events, and introduction of characters. In a good story, none of the words and parts of the story are futile and are used in the direction of the author's purpose for the artistic treatment of events and characters of the story. In the novel "The Silent Angel" by Heinrich Boll, the author uses tools such as dark and negative color like yellow and black, describes the scenes and people with negative words and uses several statues to create a cool and sober atmosphere of war also confusion and discouragement of people and inconvenient events and shows them more tangible and powerful to the reader of the story. Heinrich Boll, using the power of symbols in colors and words, brings the reader fully into the story atmosphere and creates all the emotions in the reader that can be seen and received from the warrior city and its people.
