Abstract:
The enactment of regulation No. 1829/2003 represents the last step in structuring an organic legal framework for biotech. The more interesting aspects of the regulation are its scope, the authorization procedure and the labeling. The Author analyses those aspects, and concludes pointing out that the regulation is not only material and essential for ensuring food safety in Europe, but it is even able to influence the international discussion and other legal systems.
