Abstract:
This paper is intended as a continuation and completion of the article - Fukushima, RASFF ed ECURIE - condizioni speciali per l?importazione di alimenti e mangimi provenienti dal Giappone dopo l?11 marzo 2011/35, about the measures adopted by the European Commission after the Fukushima nuclear accident. During this one year following the disaster the European Union has adopted many regulations to deal with the emergency, recently the Implementing Regulation (EU) 284/2012. This act repeals the previous provisions. It also offers new food for thought. This paper gives an overview of regulations adopted by the EU Commission, with focus on the new act, the reasons that made it necessary, and the possible development of further measures. Finally, the relationship between the EU and Japan will be discussed in more detail, in order to understand the historical process that led the former to demonstrate the utmost confidence possible in the latter
