Abstract: Interconnessione e competizione nella rete Internet (di Carlo Cambini, Roberto Roson) - ABSTRACT: In this paper, we provide an economic analysis of the market for Internet infrastructure services. Our objective is to survey the rather limited economic literature available on this subject (and, to some extent, the even more limited empirical evidence) to understand how various types of market power may hinder the current and future Internet "philosophy". The analysis provides some insights about the desirability of a possible regulatory intervention, which may be needed if the market will not be able to warrant a sufficient level of connectivity among the different sub-networks.
