Abstract:
Health service staff experience high levels of occupational stress, that are greater for nurses who work within the critical care environment such as the emergency department. Ethnography was the methodological framework used to explore triage practice, with participant observation and non-structured interviews to triage nurses. We identified many sources of stress, caused by the phenomenon of over-crowding and the interactions with superiors and patients
