Abstract: The paper considers the current state of Vietnam’s foreign trade relations over the past 20 years and provides an assessment of the foreign trade factor and its role in the national economic development. The commodity and regional pattern of Vietnam’s foreign trade is studied, with focus on the analysis of trends in foreign economic relations under conditions of economic modernization of the country
