Abstract: Improving one's technology is not only desirable but also fundamental. But it so happens that technology is only one of the four resources available tothe business manager. A correct trade of! between materiais, manpower, information and technology is required if the aim is productivity, competitiveness and profit. There is always a "cheaper" resource, and the alert manager uses it more intensively than the others, to his or her advantage.
