Abstract:
The object of this paper is the analysis of leisure practices and their meanings in a sample of 60 workmen living in São Paulo city. Attention is focussed on their celebrations and festivities, on their sociability patterns,on their market mediated leisure practices as well as on their cultural consumption. It uses two other comparable samples, of white collars and of the bourgoisie as a framework.
