Abstract: This paper presents and analyses the evolution in the emphasis of work matters such as redution and reorganization of job duration in European Community countries in the last three decades. It shows the similaritiesand differences among them, approaching not only their legislative systems, but also the politic relations in the negotiations reldtives to this job duration.
