Abstract:
This paper examines the impad of the increasingly growing use of the so called "finite capacity scheduling systems" on companies competitiveness. With this aim, the artiele defines relevant concepts regarding finite scheduling systems and discusses the implications of adopting/implementing them for the adopter's manufacturing strategy. The authors also propose a taxonomy for finite scheduling systems and survey the current finite scheduling software applications available in Brazil.
