Abstract: This artiele studies the Brazilian port system in the light of eompetition issues. Sinee the eompetition between ports in Brazil is imperfeet, this laek of eompetition inside the ports raises the operation priees above eompetitive leveIs, inereasing the so-ealled "Brazil Cost". The main target of this artiele is to evaluate the sourees of entry barriers that eould bloek eompetition inside the ports in Brazil.
