Abstract:
This paper aims at discussing the key role which the competitive priorities play in the strategic management of manufacturing and its importance to align the several programmes of quality, logistics and engineering with the manufacturing strategy. A case study which involves four manufacturing companies located at the interior of São Paulo state is presented. Both the relevance of quality and delivery performance and the main managerial and technological trends which influence the competitive priorities are discussed.
