Abstract: This articles surveys and evaluates the Brazilian literature on strategic management. Considering the relative youth of the field it was decided to cover the period 1991/ 2002 only. The data comes from several academic publications and was arranged by topics or subjects pertaining to the strategy area, methodologies used and institutional affiliation of authors. It tries to set boundaries for the area, presents briefly the contents covered by the literature and compares the Brazilian scientific production with main international themes and trends.
