Abstract: The Strategic Organizational Management area of study has been marked, especially in the last ten years, by a substantial increase in scientific and technological production in innovation research. Such growth can be grouped into at least five thematic axes: a) innovation as a driver of competitiveness of organizations, networks, sectoral activities, and global value chains (Crossan & Apaydin, 2010; Marchi, Giuliani, & Rabellotti, 2018); b) innovation as a driving force of economic, technological, social, and sustainable development of regions and nations (Cirera & Maloney, 2017); c) innovation as a strategic management process for the transformation of resources and capabilities into new products, services, and business models (Adams, Bessant, & Phelps, 2006); d) architecture of institutional ecosystems and actors (university/company/government/society) oriented to acquire value and accelerate innovation (Carayannis, Grigoroudis, Campbell, Meissner, & Stamati, 2018; Etzkowitz & Zhou, 2017); and e) new methodologies, metrics, and advanced technological tools for innovation research (Keupp, Palmié, & Gassmann, 2012).
