Abstract:
Through discourse analysis, understood here in its communicational perspective, this article explores the media positions taken in relation to Europe by Romanian and French intellectuals, in the context of the European elections in May 2019. Based on a comparative approach of a corpus of texts related to Europe published in the two main online media of France and Romania, we question the ways of approaching the European subject, in order to explore the European engagement of the authors. We show that, despite the inherent differences, there is, in the corpus under study, a community of thought and representations, ranging from normative formulas regarding the future of the European Union to criticism of crises and divides that split both the Union and the continent.
