Abstract: The article author systemically describes the key ways in which the financial literacy contributes to the improvement of the financial standing of the individual households and the individuals. The ability to use the available funds and resources wisely is a critically important factor that contributes to the under-funded individual households’ survival. Many examples taken from the descriptions of the international best practices as well as the Russian and overseas scholars’ research findings prove that there is a correlation between the level of financial literacy and the financial standing.
