Abstract: Contemporary industrial society is still dominated by the model of the firm driven by profit maximizing. The article proposes a fundamentally different model of the firm which views profit not as an ultimate objective of the firm but only as a means of survival or a vehicle for realization of the values. The conclusion is that the excessive profit orientation can result in demise of the business.
