Abstract: This article presents the results of the evaluation of the Russian Federal Subjects’ budgets transparency in 2014. This data was obtained on the basis of Russian Federal Subjects’ monitoring, and subsequently the Subjects were rated by the level of transparency of the budgetary data. It reveals the ranking of Federal Subjects based on the achieved level of transparency of the budget, with specific examples. The basic challenges to improve the transparency of the budget are illustrated and recommendations for improving the situation are given.
