Abstract: This article examines foreign and Russian models of digitalization of citizens’ participation in the budgeting process. It identifies the existing approaches, organizational structures and key challenges associated with the implementation of digital technologies in initiative budgeting. The study highlights the use of various digital solutions which is influenced by the diversity of models and the level of maturity of initiative (participatory) budgeting practices. The authors substantiate the relevance of this topic and present a series of recommendations aimed at promoting the digital transformation of the analyzed mechanism.
