Abstract: Substantial outflow of retail deposits from the banking sector in Q1 2014 forced banks to increase their liability to the regulators – the Central Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Finance – reaching record values. The quality of the retail credit portfolio keeps deteriorating while the banking business facing decline in profitability.
