Abstract: From the largest importer of grain that the country used to be in the Soviet times, Russia has evolved into its net exporter. The potential for increasing grain exports by means of reclaiming abandoned lands is being examined. There are as well opportunities for boosting grain production by means of improving yields and applying modern technologies on already cultivated lands.
