Abstract: This study aims to investigate the impacts of urbanization and propose strategies to mitigate urban vulnerability. The study first defines and examines urban vulnerability within the context of spatial management, allowing for the introduction of indicators derived from the Sustainable Territorial Economic/Environmental Management Approach (STeMA), complemented by maps, to assess urban vulnerability. These indicators offer a holistic view of urban areas, highlighting the key areas of concern. Secondly, the study identifies highly vulnerable areas and provides targeted intervention recommendations. A European city with a population of more than 500,000 is considered as a case study. By integrating quantitative analysis and qualitative insights, this study aims to provide actionable solutions for urban planners and policymakers in order to improve sustainability in rapidly urbanizing regions.
