Note on an Identity of Ramanujan

Abstract: We extend a summation identity involving the Pochhammer symbol published by Ramanujan in 1915 in the problem section of the “Journal of the Indian Mathematical Society”. Moreover, we offer some applications of our theorem. Among others, we present a new series representation for 1 / π .
