Abstract: The rapid development of the digital economy poses both opportunities and challenges for the process of new urbanization. This study utilizes inter-provincial panel data covering the period from 2012 to 2021 in the Yellow River Basin. It employs fixed-effect, mediation effect, and threshold effect models to examine how the digital economy affects the high-quality development of new urbanization in the area. Key findings of the study indicate that the digital economy has a positive impact on the high-quality development of new urbanization in the Yellow River Basin through its facilitation of industrial structure upgrading. The impact exhibits a non-linear “marginal effect,” transitioning from slower to faster growth rates. This paper aims to establish a basis for decision-making and policy formulation aimed at enhancing the high-quality development of the digital economy within the context of new urbanization in the Yellow River Basin.
