Abstract:
The Chinese government exercised great restraint in its reactions towards the nuclear deal between the USA and India. The reason is the growing political self-confidence of the Chinese government. China also demonstrated that it has built up the capacity to neutralize actions intended by the USA to balance against China: Clear political signals were sent out to the USA by announcing political deals with Pakistan and Australia.
