Abstract: A year ago the Sino-German Rule of Law Dialogue has been extended for the third time. Since its beginning in 2000 it has been confronted with high hopes as well as harsh criticism. This article summarizes the scope and meaning of this unique dialogue between Germany and China. It contrasts the most important arguments for and against this cooperation programme by way of a content analysis of selected articles from German newspapers and tries to evaluate these findings in view of the government.
