Abstract: The concept of financial literacy is at the forefront of issues that are increasingly discussed in the field of finance in our daily life in an environment where the savings rates in our country can not be raised. This concept has become a concept which governs the country's policies and strategies, not only in our country but also all around the world. Many international organizations such as the World Bank and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in particular, are publishing a variety of researches and reports on financial literacy to encourage state governments to give the financial literacy the importance that it deserves and even make it a state policy. In this study, the relationship between financial education and financial literacy will be evaluated in the context of basic financial education given at universities. For this purpose, a study was conducted at Haliç University to measure the financial literacy status of 300 students who had received Corporate Finance and Financial Management courses between February 2015 and June 2016. An important feature of this research is that it has been investigated whether students have made progress in the sense of financial literacy by applying a questionnaire before and after having these courses. A critical evaluation has been made concerning the finance education in all the educational institutions notably in the universities.
