Abstract:
Uncertainty in financial markets and the ongoing digitalization process have heightened interest in alternative investment instruments. In this context, cryptocurrencies that comply with Islamic finance principles and sustainability criteria are gaining increasing importance in the financial literature due to their ethical and environmental dimensions. This study aims to examine the investment potential of Islamic and sustainable cryptocurrencies, identify prominent research trends in the literature, shed light on existing studies, and provide recommendations for the development of future research on Islamic and sustainable cryptocurrencies. To this end, a bibliometric analysis was conducted on academic publications indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database between 2019 and 2025. The analysis indicates a notable increase in academic attention to the topic and reveals that research efforts are concentrated around three main themes: compliance with Islamic finance principles, environmental sustainability, and ethical investment strategies. The findings suggest that financial assets such as Islamic and sustainable cryptocurrencies not only reinforce ethical investment practices, enhance financial inclusion, and offer alternatives to traditional investment instruments but can also serve as a strategic policy tool in the ethical and sustainable transformation of digital finance.
