Abstract: In this paper I discuss recent contributions to a literature which combines the use of structural economic models and (quasi‐)experimental variation in the data to evaluate labor market policies. I refer to this approach as Structural and Empirical Policy Evaluation (SPE) and relate it to methodological discussions in the literature on policy evaluation. I then introduce a series of recent Danish labor market experiments and applications of SPE to discuss the potential value added of this approach.
