Abstract:
This article presents an introductory analysis of the perspectives in promoting relatively cheap foreign carbon dioxide reductions through an active supply policy in international energy markets. Our main result indicates that, from a global perspective, regulatory measures aiming at reducing oil production in the North Sea could be more efficient than traditional demand reducing measures. Although some caution is needed as to clear cut policy implications, the result will hopefully motivate further consideration of supply side regulation for implementation of climate policy
