Abstract:
This article analyses board organization in closely held corporations in Denmark. First, we identify companies' motives for having a board. Second, we analyse motives for having larger boards than the minimum sized required by the company law. Finally we test whether the organization of the board affects firm performance and dicuss the policy implications of our results in relationship to the recent debate in Denmark on good corporate governance.
