Abstract: A micro-panel econometric analysis of the demand for energy by industrial companies is presented in this article. The analysis is based on an extensive data set which contains information on energy use and value added at company level for the majority of all industrial companies in Denmark in the period from 1983 to 1997. The estimated model is used to calculate the effect of a package of policy instruments which have been adopted since 1993 in order to reduce industrial energy use and emis sions of CO2.
