Abstract:
We analyse the relationship between the structure of ownership and the control of Danish privately-owned companies. First, we identify the relationships between owners, board members and CEOs in these firms. Second, we document the dilution of control in firms with multiple owners, and analyze factors that affect the decision to dilute control. Finally, we discuss the implications of our findings for Danish corporate law.
