Abstract:
The current issue is based on data from the survey of the international departments of Russian universities and provides an overview of changes in work with current and perspective international students during COVID-19 pandemic. The survey was conducted in June 2020 and included responses from 70 Russian higher education institutions with no less than 500 international students, including 8 Federal universities which accommodate a significant share of incoming students. The data reveals several trends: - the most challenging aspects of work with international students during the pandemic are related to the organization of the study process, and with the necessity for psychological support for this group of students; - almost half of the respondents indicated that their universities plan to develop online courses for international students; one-third of respondents indicated that they plan to develop online degree programs in cooperation with Russian and foreign universities; - according to the survey, the most desirable measures of governmental support should include help in recruitment (68%), simplification of the admission process (60%), and changes in migration regulations for incoming students.
