Monitoring of Education Markets and Organizations (MEMO), 2020, issue 27, 1-6

Abstract: This issue presents analysis of trends and challenges influencing education system. It considers the extent to which transformation processes discussed in the expert discourse are consistent with current trends in education and beyond during COVID-19 pandemic. This paper analyzes 25 reports of the leading international organizations (s. a. OECD, World Bank, UNESCO) and think tanks (s. a. Future Science Platforms, Data Science Platform), which have been published over the last eight years. Economic and technological trends are in the center of discussion in the expert discourse as the key drivers of transformation processes. Analyzed trends illustrate crisis and problems of increasing uncertainty and volatility in all areas of life, which is a challenge for the education system. Modern challenges identify new demands for skills, including those associated with “agency”. Competencies that allow adapting quickly and effectively to the new conditions and forming new social networks and structures come to the forefront.
