Monitoring of Education Markets and Organizations (MEMO), 2020, issue 7, 1-5

Abstract: The analytical material examines the digital footprint of students in the social network ""VKontakte"" in condition of transition to distance learning. We identified the main topics of the messages and the problems they encountered during this period in social networks. We analyzed the dynamics of students ' communication activity in social networks before and after transition. The study is based on data from our monitoring of unofficial University communities in social network ""Vkontakte"" during the transition (from February 1 to April 4, 2020), conducted with the participation of 81 universities from 51 subjects of the Russian Federation. On the day of the announcement of the transition of universities to a distance learning format, the number of student messages in the social network ""Vkontakte"" doubled; The cloud of the most frequently used words in published messages indicates a meaningful transformation of key topics. The most discussed topic was the problem of an organizational nature; Most students found themselves in an information vacuum, in a state of uncertainty; Russian students showed flexibility and loyalty to the transition to distance learning.
